Position Details
Events Coordinator
Red Mountain Resort is western Canada's original ski resort featuring incredible terrain, over 7.5m snowfall per year and a small-town friendly atmosphere. We host many exciting events and offer a diverse product mix.
Red has been accredited by Ski Canada Magazine for having the Best Trees, Best Powder and Best Steeps. The historic adventure community of Rossland is only 5 km from the resort and the area offers many activities to enjoy.
Under new ownership, Red is currently undergoing an exciting expansion, including a 1,400 unit real estate development at the base and on-mountain improvements that will more than double the skiing terrain over the next 10 years. This is a terrific opportunity to work in a growing mountain community and enjoy a recreation lifestyle including world-class skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking.

The Events Coordinator is a seasonal full-time position. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, responsibilities and essential duties include:
- Event Scheduling
- Event marketing including event promotion and sponsorship sales and relations
- Event staffing and payroll
- Event officials, event staff and volunteer recruitment, supervision and program development
- Budget management including pricing and tendering
- Communication and coordination of third party event producers and sanctioning bodies
- Prizing organization, collection and follow-up
- Time management including media plan blocking and project planning
- Internet communications, social networking, brand and content monitoring and management of daily blog news updates
- Regular production and distribution of function sheets to all management and staff
- General administration including filing, special event registration and telephone messaging
Candidate qualifications include:
- A University degree or equivalent; marketing degree or certificate preferred
- Events, promotions, marketing, or communications knowledge essential
- Prior special events organization experience essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook in Windows environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Exceptional leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to meet deadlines
- An excellent eye for detail
- Passion for mountain culture
- Ability to troubleshoot
- Ability to maintain a friendly, professional attitude in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to demonstrate teamwork and enthusiasm as a key member of Red's marketing team
- Ability to work alone with minimum supervision
- Excellent command of written and spoken English essential; spoken French and German are pluses
- Skiing or snowboarding at an advanced level
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
- Good handwriting
- Willingness to accept a flexible schedule and work weekends and evenings as needed
