Lift Operator Lead Hand

Red Mountain is now accepting applications for the position of Lift Operations Lead Hand.

 

Position Summary

To oversee the safe and efficient lift operations at Red Resort.  
Responsible for building and supporting a strong team of attentive and friendly lift operators, and providing guests with courteous and friendly service. 
To oversee staff two days per week during Lift Operations Managers days off.

 

Essential Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Maintain a high quality, friendly and cooperative relationship with guests, the lift department, and other mountain staff.
  • At every opportunity, greet every guest in a friendly manner making eye contact whenever possible.
  • Set an excellent example and strives to improve in safety, service and job satisfaction.
  • Fulfill all the responsibilities and duties listed for lift operator position.
  • Assist with training and development of staff.
  • Ensure adherence to all operational and safety procedures, resulting in safe and efficient operations of the lifts and other equipment for guests and staff.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining all operational aspects of the lifts including ramps, mazes, tools and signs.   Maintain the highest housekeeping standards, ensuring a groomed, uncluttered, litter-free environment including snow/ice removal.
  • Provide leadership, promote team spirit and cooperative work ethics; provide the most outstanding examples of friendly, cooperative relationships with our guests, other staff, and the lift department.
  • Show initiative in handling routine matters and quick thoughtful judgment in emergency situations.
  • Is vigilant and informs manager of (or corrects) unusual or unsafe situations not only in lift department, but also anywhere in the resort.
  • Prior to public operation of lifts, ensure all safety and operational procedures are complete.
  • Ensure proper lift operator assignments on a daily basis.
  • Ensure proper and complete documentation of lift logs, accident and incident forms.
  • Attend and participate in all employee meetings.
  • Always wear a clean, complete uniform (with nametag) and maintain grooming standards as when hired.
  • Complies with all procedures and policies as set out in the Employee Handbook and the Lift Operations Manual.
  • To perform all tasks as assigned by Lift Operations Manager or Operations Manager.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and guest relations skills.
  • Must be mature, energetic and dependable, with the ability to take initiative and work unsupervised.
  • Must be a skier/snowboarder.
  • Must have previous lift experience.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must have a strong command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Must be in good physical condition and well groomed.
  • Must have a telephone.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must complete the required training and lift examination.

 

Minimum Physical Requirements

  • Must be in good physical shape to complete heavy lifting (snow, ladder, sniffle station etc.), shoveling and other physical duties required.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and maintain high service standards during inclement weather conditions.
