Professional Ski Patrol

Red Mountain Resort is now accepting applications for the position of Professional Ski Patrol.

The overall objective for ski patrol members’ is to make every effort to establish and maintain a safe, enjoyable environment for guests and employees at Red Mountain Resorts.

The primary responsibilities of ski patrol members are…

  • perform daily routine to maintain safe standards on the mountain including daily checks of equipment, signage and hazard identification, as well as the patrolling of runs.
  • maintain personal training for emergency first aid care and emergency evacuation services and deliver these services as needed.
  • assess and manage risks related to avalanche hazard.
  • gather and disseminate inter-mountain information for skiing guests as well as various internal departments.
  • support other work-related and special event activities when and where appropriate.
  • engage in the development, training, and improvement of work-related operational procedures.

Your work habits are exceptional: you are prompt, responsible; you have effective work management and problem solving skills. You are self-motivated. You enjoy working alone and under pressure, as well as in a team setting. You have an ability to work calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

You are an ambassador of Red Mountain and enjoy working with the public. You can deal pleasantly with the pressures of a busy atmosphere.

Qualifications

  1. Your minimum first aid qualification is a current Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) ticket or a valid Non Urban Emergency Care (NUEC-3). Emergency First aid experience is an asset.
  2. You have the ability to confidently ski or snowboard all terrain in all snow conditions with a loaded rescue toboggan.
  • Familiarity with Red Mountain ski area and ski patrol procedures are an asset.
  • Basic understanding of avalanche safety protocol is an asset. Level I CAA Ski Area certification course is an additional asset.
  • Service industry training or job -related experience is an asset.
  • Competence with computer word processing and electronic mail are an asset.

Wages: Based on USWA collective bargaining agreement
