The 1st annual Kootenay Adventure Rally took place at RED this past weekend under perfect conditions – the off-road restriction lifted, tacky dirt, cool air temps and the sun was shining.

Participants joined us from Spokane, Calgary, Kelowna and all over the East & West Kootenays

24 riders took part in a 1 day riding clinic with RED Bull Ambassador Chris Brich and Kootenay Motocross Legend Bruce Baker. Riders worked on skills and drills in the parking lot and then put their skills to the test with a mountain top ride to the top of Granite & Grey.

The Rally ride took place on Saturday. Riders all gathered at the base area for the mandatory meting and bike inspection and by 9:30am the were on their way to the top of RED Mountain Resort where they summited Granite & Grey mountains. Then headed back down and out the old Cascade Hwy to Christina Lake, to the Columbian Western Rail Trail where they rode through the very dark, historic abandoned rail trail tunnels, rode over trestle bridges and witnessed the spectacular views of the Arrow Lake, finishing with smooth pavement back to RED’s base area.

Honda Junior Red Riders kids demo took place on Saturday with over 30 5-12yr olds come out to try their hand at electric and motorised bikes. This gave the kids the opportunity to reinforce off-road safety, and have children get comfortable on a bike fit for their size.

The event concluded with BBQ and drinks on the deck and all riders laughing and sharing stories of their 5hr rally ride. Mainjet along with our prize partners, (Parts Canada, Fox Canada, Honda, KTM, Olympia, Kimpex, Motovan, Klim), provided some awesome draw pizes and we presented the Early Bird Registration prizes too.

Thanks to everyone who came out and we’re looking forward to next year’s event.
