RED Mountain Resort, Rossland BC wins two prestigious 2013 World Snow Awards

November 22, 2013 – Rossland BC–The World Snow Awards have awarded RED Mountain Resort in Rossland, BC, two World Snow Awards: as both the Most Improved North American Resort Award as well as the global Best Upcoming Resort Award.

"The World Snow Awards recognize outstanding service to ski and snowboard consumers across categories covering resorts, travel, retail, equipment and technology." said Henry Druce. Editor of Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Magazine, and Chair of the judging committee.

RED Mountain Resort took home the Most Improved North American Resort award “ based on the significant increases in accessible terrain, and ultimately on the experience for the consumer “ commented Tim Holmes, spokesman for of the World Snow Awards.

These two new international awards come on the heels of recent accolades from two of North America’s largest media outlets. This past summer, USA Today described the resort’s expansion as “staggering” in it’s scale and The New York Times chose RED Mountain as # 8 in it’s “The 46 places to see in 2013” global vacation travel feature.

RED Mountain’s massive new expansion of more than 997 acres on Grey Mountain is set to open this winter and has helped elevate the status and visibility of this un-crowded, world-class resort.

In winning the Most Improved North American Resort, RED beat out a top notch short list of more established resorts, including Vail, Colorado, Jackson Hole, WY and Squaw Valley, CA. “This marks a first, as our awards, accolades and recognition are now becoming more global in scale” said Howard Katkov, CEO of RED Mountain Resort.

Similarly, in winning the Best Upcoming Resort, RED Mountain Resort prevailed against the short list of exceptional global resorts including, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in BC and Ski Juwel Alpbachtal, Wildschönau, Austria. RED’s active involvement with the world’s best skiers and snowboarders over the last few years has resulted in considerable coverage in recent ski films including TGR’s Way of Life and Snowboard Films from Think Thank and Standard Films.

The 2013 World Snow Awards were presented on November 1, 2013 in London, England and were produced by VOS Media, a Telegraph Media Group company. VOS Media operates the London and Manchester Ski and Snowboard Shows and Telegraph Ski and Snowboard, the UK’s best selling ski and snowboard title.
