The event is an inclusive ski and ride day where RED Mountain Resort will donate 50 percent of its day ticket revenue to help raise funds for several of B4BC’s initiatives, including scholarships through the Survivorship Fund to ReTreat Yourself, a yoga, ski and snowboard retreat for women who have been affected by breast cancer. Activities at RED that day will include ski and snowboard demos as well as breast cancer screening information booths. Top skiers and snowboarders including Megan Pischke, Kendra Starr and Kasha Rigby will be in attendance.
The day will end with an après ski party at Rafter’s bar with national recording artist Allen Stone, whose recent hit song “Unaware” has logged over 1.7 million views on youtube. You can check out this upcoming event and more at the Entertainment at Rafters Upcoming Events page.
Shred the Love is open to all who want to help raise funds for a great cause by skiing at RED that day. The event will also include raffles of top ski and snowboard gear and drink specials in the bar that will help raise funds for B4BC.
Boarding for Breast Cancer will spend a percentage of the funds in the Rossland/Trail community, where they were raised. RED plans to make Shred the Love an annual event. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
Shred the Love is one of several Women’s Week (January 31 – Feburary 4, 2013) activities at RED Mountain Resort. Women’s ski and snowboard camps from top women’s snow sports athletes will also be taking place – pro skier Allison Gannett is hosting Rippin Chix ski camp February 2-3, 2013.
During Women’s Week, an additional five percent of lodging revenue will go to B4BC when you quote B4BC during booking. For lodging info during Women’s Week please contact RED Reservations at 1-877-969-7669 or email email@example.com
B4BC is a non-profit foundation dedicated to providing education, prevention and support programs for young people and the action sports community at large. Through grassroots events, year-round educational outreach and the Survivorship Fund, B4BC is able to further its mission of promoting early detection, plus a healthy, active lifestyle as the best means of breast cancer prevention.
RED Mountain Resort in Rossland is the ultimate ski destination on BC’s famous Powder Highway. With five peaks to explore, 1,685 skiable acres inbounds, and over 25 feet of snowfall per year, it’s no wonder SBC named RED a "Top 3 Resort in Canada for Terrain” and Powder Magazine just voted us as #4 in “Top Places to Ski and Ride in North America.” With RED’s new expansion underway, nearly 1,000 acres of terrain will be added, serviced this winter by snowcat and next year by lift. Our 95 runs, countless gladed powder stashes, 2,919 feet of vertical, and easy-access backcountry mean RED has something for every skier or snowboarder — all without the crazy crowds of the mega-resorts.
