Don’t you wish every day was Friday? While we can’t technically make that happen, we plan to celebrate those Fridays we do have to the MAX this summer! Starting at 5pm we have beer, beats and BBQ! Grab your friends and head up to the RED deck to enjoy live music, and a different food offering and featured brewery each week!

4-event bike race series at RED

July 8th | July 29th | Aug 5th | Aug 12th

Are you a one-and-done type or a four and hardcore kind of rider? Whichever one you are, get geared up and pumped up for the first-ever RED Mountain Five Fridays Cycle Series this summer! Starting Friday, July 8th, we’ll be kicking off a 4-event timed downhill bike race series right here at RED, tied into our weekly Five Fridays events! Compete on a new course each week, with a different trail revealed every week on the Wednesday before race day. Game on!

Not interested in racing? No problem, come cheer on the participants from the RED Deck starting at 5PM until 9PM with some delicious food and cold brews. Musical performances every week just to sweeten the pot!

Dates & Times

The timed downhill races will start at 5:30PM with registration in advance. Register in one of 3 categories: Youth, Women or Men. Registration, Bib pick up and waiver signing required pre-race from 3-5PM in the base area.

PLUS: A big thanks to Wirewood Construction, who will be providing a free beer ticket to every registered racer (19+) for Five Fridays on the RED deck after the race.

Start Times:
Youth (under 16): 5:30PM
Followed by Women then Men
Awards on the deck: 8pm

Details

  • Registration: $12 (plus tax), register prior to the race
    • Free Beer Ticket for every registered racer (19+) for Five Fridays on the RED deck thanks to Wirewood Construction
  • Racers must sign waiver prior to each weeks race (3-5pm in the RED Base Area)
  • 100 Racers Max
  • Racers will be required to pedal to the top of course
  • No E-bikes. This is a pedal to the metal kinda party!
  • Course will be announced the Wednesday prior to the race
  • Timed downhill from top to bottom on a flagged course
  • Food, beverage & live music on the Deck from 5-9PM for spectators and racers
  • Tons of prizes up for grabs!

Results

A big thank you to everyone that came out and competed in our first ever Five Fridays Cycle Series! The races were a doozy with all the competitors kicking butt on Paydirt, Gold Digger, Redhead & Dragon Tail! We are constantly amazed at the level of talent we see around the resort. A huge congrats to Dorian DeBruyn, Katie Spittlehouse, and Max Nutini for taking out the U16, Women, and Men divisions respectively.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place for each category every race. Points will be awarded for each race based on time categories and carried over from week to week.

The Grand Prizes will go to the individuals with the highest cumulative point totals at the end of the race series.
Grand Prize Winners in each age division will win:

1st Place: 22/23 RED Season Pass
2nd Place: 5-Day Kootenay Locals Only Card
3rd Place: 3-Day Kootenay Locals Only Card

All awards will be announced on the Deck after the final race around 8PM. The Grand Prize will be awarded post-race on Friday Aug 12th.
