Full-time Ski or Snowboard Instructor – Schools Lead

RED Mountain Resort’s Fall Line Ski & Snowboard School is currently seeking Full-Time Ski and Snowboard instructors for the 2022/2023 season.

RED Mountain is located in Rossland, BC, along the famous “Powder Highway”. RED delivers 3,850 acres of pristine skiing unfettered by over-development. RED boasts 300” of annual snowfall, wide-open groomers, 2,919ft of vertical, in-bounds cat-skiing, 360 degree descents, a rich tradition, and the best tree runs in BC.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Full-time Ski and Snowboard Instructor – Schools Lead will be the main liaison between the Assistant Director and the Instructors working on snow. Their main role is to organize and coordinate school groups before and during their visits. This means working closely with the Assistant Supervisor in order to prepare for school group arrivals. Once school groups arrive they will then be in charge of all on snow operations regarding organizing instructors and the students out skiing and snowboarding.

This role is highly dependent on school attendance at RED Mountain Resort. This means that when there are no schools present, the Schools Supervisor will be scheduled to teach ski or snowboard lessons (depending on qualification).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold Level 2 CSIA, CASI or equivalent qualifications
    • Dual certification an asset
  • Minimum 2 years experience instructing
  • Experience with group management
  • Previous experience teaching at Fall Line Ski & Snowboard School an asset

A successful candidate must:

  • Be extremely organized and have excellent communication skills
  • Be personable and comfortable speaking with both staff (management and front-line) and guests of all ages
  • Be flexible and prepared to work 5 days a week (Monday-Friday)
  • Be polite, patient, understanding, and have a positive attitude
  • Provide safe, fun lessons for guests of all ages and abilities
  • Be enthusiastic and comfortable teaching children 3 years old +
  • Meet minimum physical requirements including the ability to pick up students and manually assist them during lessons and chair lift loading/unloading
  • Have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions

The wage for Schools Lead hand is Level 2 wage ($19.80/hr) plus $1.50 for Lead Hand duties. When teaching lessons you will be paid your instructor wage, which will range depending on qualifications.
