Witches, Goblins, Clowns and more tackled all the elements for the 2017 Hallocross at Red.
On Sunday, RED Mountain Resort hosted the last race of the BC Interior Cylclocross Series. 50 athletes came out to compete in the less than gruelling course, all located within RED’s base area. Rossland locals represented with 10 riders and the rest all travelled from within BC to attend the race.
Racers were faced with all aspects of Cylcoross – snow, mud, wet grass, gravel, compact dirt, you name it, it all formed part of this years course. All aspects of the base area were utilised in the course, from a tunnel under the excavator bucket, to the logs and tree stumps in the parking lot. To add to the diversity of ground coverings and features, the Novice racers were treated to an eerie start with low thick fog covering the course and adding one more challenge and a great start to Halloween. The fog conveniently lifted for the kids and Elite races.
Novice riders & kids dressed for the occasion, riding as Witches, Steampunk, men in dresses, wigs and lots more. The Elite riders got their sweat on and pushed hard though their 10 laps of the 1.6km course.
All riders finished with a BBQ and drinks on the deck with most competitors receiving a prize.
