Opening Day Update

Targeting Thursday, December 18

Sometimes Mother Nature can be a real pain—like a toddler who just can’t make up her mind. Promises of a deep winter are still on the horizon, but she’s making us wait a little longer. While everyone is eager to kick off the season, RED Mountain Resort will be delaying Opening Day as we continue to build a safe and sustainable snow base, especially at lower elevations. We’re still looking for another big storm (or two) before we can open the mountain the way it deserves to be opened.

The good news? The forecast looks promising. Once that snow arrives, our Operations Team will need time to get everything dialed: track packing, grooming, boundary setup, and hazard mitigation across all zones. Indoors, we’re also getting ready—prepping kitchens, mounting skis, programming systems, and setting the stage for a smooth, unforgettable opening.

We’ll continue to provide updates as conditions evolve, but we are currently targeting December 18th as our new Opening Day. Thank you for your patience and for cheering on the storms with us—we can’t wait to welcome you back when the mountain is ready.

Things You Can Do To Get Ready

Pick Up Your Pass

All Season Passholders are required to sign a Release of Liability Waiver prior to picking up their Pass. Guests are welcome to reuse an existing RFID card, but Passes will not be activated until a waiver has been completed and linked to the Passholder account. If you haven’t done so already, come on up to RED to get your waiver done.

Guest Services is open daily until Opening Day from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Get Your Skis/Board Tuned Up

Conditions in December are a far cry from the spring snow you put your gear away on—so don’t roll into Opening Day with the wrong wax or dull edges. Visit our Service Shop to get waxed, sharpened, and ready for first chair.

Service Shop Hours:

  • Wednesday–Friday: 9:00am–5:00pm.
  • Saturday–Sunday: 10:00am–4:00pm.

Get Your Kit Ready

Don’t wait until Opening Day to discover you’re missing a glove or rocking the wrong lens. Piste Off Supply Co. is open and stocked with the latest gear from Smith, Burton, Icebreaker, Black Diamond, and more. Hot tip: You can also cross a few folks off your Christmas list while you’re at it.

Open Wednesday–Sunday, 9:00am–5:00pm.

Reminder: The Mountain Is Closed

Access to RED Mountain Resort is strictly prohibited when the resort is closed. This includes ski touring and all uphill travel. Early-season conditions, ongoing hazard mitigation, and active mountain operations make the area unsafe for public access. Please respect all closures and give our teams the space they need to prepare the mountain for opening.

Still Wanna Shred?

Our friends at Whitewater Mountain Resort and Revelstoke Mountain Resort are graciously offering RED Mountain Season Passholders a 25% discount off lift tickets. La Nina Is Still Coming

Current climate models continue to project a La Niña pattern shaping up for winter, which typically brings cooler temperatures and increased precipitation to our region. While early December has been slower to ramp up, the atmospheric pattern is still developing, and impacts are expected to become more noticeable as we move deeper into the season.
