Meet Jess

Date of Birth: Feb 11, 1998

Hometown: Canmore, Alberta

Occupation: Design Technician

Sponsors: RED Mountain, POC Sports, Rossignol

Bio: Hi! I’m Jess. I was born and raised in Canmore, Alberta where I grew up ski racing at Mount Norquay and learning the ropes of Big Mountain shredding at Lake Louise. After my retirement from racing in middle school, skiing became the least of my priorities and that continued all the way through graduating High School. After my Hiatus from the slopes, I re-found a love for putting two planks on my feet and braving the frosty Alberta winters which would eventually lead me to Rossland – long story short. I’m stoked to shred my second season of many at RED and if you see me looking for a ski on Link’s Line, don’t worry, it happens often. Catch ya on the slopes!

How old were you when you started riding?

3 years old

Who are your mentors/influencers?

My dad! I love seeing the joy “sliding on snow” can bring to a person. Reminds me to slow down and realize how lucky we are to just be skiing.

Any Nicknames?

Mess & Snack-ssica

What’s your favourite thing about RED?

Finding fresh lines at last chair… 5 days after it has snowed. Oh! and snow ghosts (I’m from Alberta).

121 – Legs of Steel & any premiering movie obviously

What’s your favorite run at RED?

Links Line, Sarah’s Chute & Slides

Do you listen to music when you shred? (what’s your go-to?)

Never actually tried it! Chair lift tunes? Yes

When not skiing/riding, what else do you like to do?

I like to bike, take photos, eat good food with friends and anything that gets me outside and moving

What’s the best trick name?

Spread Eagle? I don’t know, that’s the only one I’ve mastered

Do you have any preseason rituals leading up to the winter?

Cram in all of off-seasons leg workouts into one month and wear my kit around the house.

If you could be any animal, what would it be?

A Rossland Dog

What’s your favorite saying?

Good day for a good day

Describe your perfect apres.

Anything involving a Rafters Poutine with a good crew post pow day. Followed by taking my boots off.
