Red Rookies - Warm up Weekend

New to this ski and snowboard thing? Or maybe you’re a boarder who’s always wanted to try out double planking. Whatever the reason, just don’t let your better half teach you - Join us for this adults only 2 day beginner camp! Learn to ski or snowboard and make new friends while you’re at it. End the camp recapping the best bails in Rafters Lounge.

Stumps and Bumps

Women’s Intro to Park Sessions

Join our Park certified instructors on these afternoon sessions that will introduce female skiers and snowboarders to the sometimes intimidating world of the Terrain Park. Women’s only groups provide a safe, supportive and super fun learning environment. Explore different tactics for hitting rails with confidence, or finally landing that 180.

Shred Posse Freeski Camp with Dane Tudor

Come shred at Red Mountain with local professional freeskier Dane Tudor! Dane has created and maintains a professional film ski career spanning over 14 years, working with companies such as Poor Boyz Productions, Teton Gravity Research and Sherpas Cinema.   
The camp will focus on ski technique, mental mind state, line selection, film opportunities (for the young ones), training and becoming a positive role model for the people around us.   
Dane has followed his dreams and pursued his path in numerous walks of life both within and outside the ski industry.  He believes there is opportunity abound and it's about identifying one's dreams and pursuing them to the fullest that creates a vital, fulfilling life.  **Minimum 3 participants to run

Freeride with Rachel Newton

For all the snowboarders out there wanting to gain confidence and take your snowboarding to the next level, come ride with Rachel Newton! A fully certified snowboard coach with mountains of experience, energy and enthusiasm, her goal is to make you a better snowboarder and have a ton of fun doing it!

Freeride Flow (Snowboard Only)

INTERMEDIATE: Find your flow and get more out of your riding experience. This day is geared toward intermediate level snowboarders who are comfortable on blue terrain and want to get flow on both the groomers and in the trees. Finding challenges with bumpy terrain? Learn how to manage terrain variations, changes in pitch and conditions.

Women’s Freeskiing Camp with Kirsty Exner

Come shred RED like the locals! Take your skiing and confidence to the next level and spend the weekend learning the lines, skills and technique that will make you into the skier you want to be. If you can shred RED, you can ski anywhere! This female team of ripping locals will show you the mountain and how to navigate it like no one else can!

During this two-day clinic, you will develop the fundamental ski tactics and techniques to move with finesse and confidence through all types of conditions and terrain. We offer this clinic early in the season so bad habits are nipped in the bud right away and you are implementing your newly acquired skills and progressing all season long!

Kirsty grew up skiing RED, competed on the World Freeskiing Tour for 4 years, earning many podium finishes including two silver medals at the Worlds in Alaska. With her physiotherapy background and expertise in ski instruction and body mechanics, she can provide an invaluable learning experience for her clients.

This camp includes:

  • An apres ski beer and nachos on Sunday

Kirsty Exner

Kirsty grew up skiing RED, competed on the World Freeskiing Tour for 4 years, earning many podium finishes including two silver medals at the Worlds in Alaska. From her own personal free-skiing background she created her own women’s freeskiing camps at RED, and coached hundreds of women through her multi-day camps. With her physiotherapy background and expertise in ski instruction and body mechanics, she can provide an invaluable learning experience for her clients.

Kylie Sivell

Kylie is currently a Canadian professional skier, living in Rossland BC. In 2017 she ranked 4th at the Freeride World Tour and was also voted Audi Rookie of the Year. She coached the Women’s Freeskiing camp last year and was a hit!

Katie Spittlehouse

Katie is a CSCF Level 3/Performance Level Trained coach. This is currently her 10th season coaching, and 5th season coaching with Red Mountain Racers. Katie grew up racing FIS in Ontario which led her on to many podium finishes and a solid coaching career. .When she’s not ski coaching, she works as a X-Ray/MRI technologist at the Trail Hospital. She lives in Rossland year round and in the summer, competes on the Enduro Mountain Bike race series. Her current ranking from this summer is: 1st place in the Canadian National Enduro Series, 4th at Canadian Nationals, 7th on the American Enduro Series and 28th overall in the World Enduro series in Whistler. She has great passion for sport and the outdoors and loves being able to continue her athletic career as well as coach young aspiring athletes and women!

Sally Steeves

Sally is a Rossland local who started competing in junior big mountain freeski competitions at age 11. In her first competition, the head judge said that she would be “a threat to the future of freeskiing” and she took that to heart, winning 20 competitions of the next 6 years. Her biggest highlights include winning the North American Freeksi Championships twice at Snowbird and Crystal Mountain. Sally also coached the Red Freeski team. She has now graduated and is currently working as an electrical engineer for BC Hydro. After a 6 year hiatus from competing, Sally went to the Crystal Mountain Freeride World Qualifier and won!

Laurie Frankcom

Laurie became a ski instructor in 2007 and joined the Red Snowschool teaching the Chix on Stix program, a multi week women’s ski improvement program. Her passion for skiing found her chasing the snow to the southern hemisphere where she spent four seasons as the Mountain Manager at Broken River Ski Club in New Zealand. Today you can find her chasing her six year old down the slopes at Red or in the back country skiing with her husband and friends.
