Terrain Opening Updates

Tuesday, January 16th Update:

The long-awaited Red Chair will be spinning for the season starting the morning of Wednesday, January 17th! Please be aware that Back Trail will remain closed to allow us to continue making snow in preparation for the March Alpine races. There will be no groomed runs on the mountain to start – all guests should be experienced with expert terrain only. We will continue to update the snow report when grooming can begin in the near future.

Please know that early season conditions still very much exist on Grey – please ride with care, obey all mountain signage and any roped-off areas, as well as watch out for natural hazards, both marked and unmarked. Bonus update: We plan to have our T-bar operational starting this Friday as well!

Stay up-to-date on our snow report each morning for the official groomed runs list. Starting tomorrow, lift tickets will be at full price – but don’t forget you can still buy in advance and save up to 20%!

Dec 28th, 2023 Opening Day Update

IT’S FINALLY OPENING DAY! While we don’t have as much snow as we would like, we are super proud of our team that has been working hard this week to get us riding. We were gifted a fresh 3.5cm overnight to kick off the season right. It is very important that we stress that these are very early season conditions and advise that you ski with care, obey all mountain signage, stay on designated trails and groomed runs as well as watch out for hazards, both marked and unmarked. Our grooming team has put together a man-made egress for safe descent to the bottom of Silverlode via Corky’s Road and Aladar’s Alley.

Please check our snow report page for a list of open lifts and groomed runs »

As a reminder, lift tickets will be 30% off online and at the ticket window until further notice.

Dec 26th, 2023 Opening Day Update

Big news! Our on-mountain Operations and Patrol teams have been working tirelessly these last few days to allow us to officially announce the set Opening Day of the 2023/24 season!

We will be kicking off the first day of the season this Thursday, December 28th with the Magic Carpet Carpet, Silverlode, Motherlode, and Paradise Chairs spinning. We cannot stress enough how important it is to understand that current early-season conditions on the mountain require all guests to stick to our designated & groomed runs. Natural hazards – both marked and unmarked – very much exist right now.

Check our Snow Report & our social channels Thursday morning for the release of what runs will officially be open to start the season. In terms of available terrain, please note that Motherlode Chair will only be intended as access between Paradise and the lower mountain.

December 20, 2023 Opening Day Update

In the last few days we have received another 11cms of snow and while we are looking better up top, we still need more snow to allow us to groom safe egress to the base of the resort. As we all know, forecasts can change very quickly, so while we cannot open this Friday, we won’t set a new date quite yet until we see the actual results of the next two systems forecasted to start this Friday with a second system forecasted to start on Monday.

Our goal is to safely open as soon as we possibly can. Over the last week, our teams have been working (and continue to work) diligently on the mountain doing the necessary preparations ahead of time which will allow us to open much quicker once the needed snow arrives.

With our crew on the mountain, the volume of equipment and staff on the hill has increased over the last couple of weeks. We continue to see people recreating on the mountain, so a reminder to please stay off the resort for both the safety of the public and our team.

Thank you everyone for your patience, let’s keep those snow dances going!

December 12, 2023 Opening Day Update

We’re almost there, everyone. While the additional snow over the weekend helped, and with the snow guns crankin’, we are one good storm away to safely get our team up to prep the mountain and kick off the season. With the forecast for the upcoming week indicating some significant precipitation, our new hopeful Opening Day will be December 22nd (or earlier, weather permitting). We’ll keep an eye on the forecast and conditions with an update to the public on Monday next week.

As a reminder to all, access to the mountain remains closed until opening day. We are continuing to work on the mountain at all hours with grooming equipment, operational set up, and avalanche control. For your personal safety and the safety of the RED team please remain away; this includes cross-country skiing, ski touring, tobogganing, hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and any other form of mountain activity.

Our team is working hard on preparing for a great season and your cooperation is always appreciated. Thank you everyone for your patience as we navigate the evolving weather conditions, keep the snow dances up!

December 4, 2023 Update

Please also remember the hill is closed to all uphill travel for both your safety and our staff, as we continue to prep the mountain.
