Here lies opportunities missed.
ONE DAY ISN’T ENOUGH
Can you experience RED in a day? Sure. Should you? We don’t think so.
We don’t hate day-trippers, we’re just letting you know what you’re missing out on.
Here’s how it goes: alarm at 7, snooze at 7, scramble at 7:15. Gear in the car, drive to your buddy’s place, wait outside your buddy’s place, text your buddy, wait some more. He emerges. Unbothered. First words out his mouth ‘did you eat yet?’
Tim’s. Gas. Highway. Parking lot. It is not early.
You get some laps in, great ones actually, but it’s your first time here so half of it is figuring out where you’re going. You skip lunch because you’ve already burned time you didn’t have. By lap four you’re hangry, then your buddy pulls out his phone.
‘We should probably get going.’
You load the bikes just as the mountain turns golden behind you. The locals are coming out for their after work laps. The deck is bumping. The light is incredible. You are on the highway.
It was a fine day. It could’ve been a great one.

HERE’S WHAT WE SUGGEST:
SLOW DOWN
The days will hit differently when you’re not watching the clock.Yesterday was pre-ride and re-ride, today you’re dialled in for the free-ride. Hit the park again, or better yet, pedal past it. Rossland has over 200km of trails maintained by the Kootenay Columbia Trail Society and a few of them start right from the Base of RED. You’ve probably heard of the iconic Seven Summits Trail, that’s here in Rossland too. If you’re done with pedalling, explore the mountains and discover rustic cabins on the area’s stunning trail network.
PEDAL BEYOND THE BIKE PARK
STAY AWHILE
If a day or two on the mountain has emptied your tank, Rossland has you covered. Grab a coffee at a café that’ll know your order by day two. Wander through the farmers market. Play a round of disc golf. Paddle Nancy Greene Lake in the morning before the world wakes up. Rossland isn’t a resort village built around a parking lot, it’s a real mountain town, with real passionate people. Walk into the brewery and close it down with the people you met 2 hours ago, you’ll understand.

START PLANNING
Come for a night. That’s usually how it starts. First it’s a weekend trip. Then it’s an annual tradition. Then you’re dragging your friends up here so they can “finally understand.” Next thing you know, you’re three beers deep at the brewery asking a local realtor what a fixer-upper goes for in Rossland.
