Friday:
Road Trip & Night Skiing
It’s time to log off. Close your laptop and pack the car, the weekend is here! Nestled in the West Kootenays, Rossland is just 2.5 hours from Spokane, WA, and under 4 hours from Kelowna or Cranbrook – the perfect road trip distance for a quick impromptu getaway.
On your way into town, swing by Ferraro Foods, our cute local grocery store known for its friendly staff and solid prices. Here you can grab everything you’ll need for the weekend and start your weekend the same way us locals do. Next, check into The Crescent at RED Mountain, your home away from home. Unload your ski gear into the personal lockers, settle into your spacious suite, and get ready for the weekend. For dinner, fire up the grill on The Crescent’s patio or relax with a cozy meal cooked in your room’s fully equipped kitchen.
If you’re itching to hit the slopes already, night skiing runs from 5-8pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights – talk about making the most of your days off! Saving your legs for tomorrow? Head into town to grab some food at one of Rossland’s delicious restaurants, B&T’s is a classic and the tunes start at 9pm.
Saturday:
Explore RED Mountain
Rise and shine, it’s time to hit the slopes! Luckily you won’t need too early of a wakeup call since The Crescent is located just steps from the chairlift. Did we mention that day tickets are 25% off and kids ski free with your stay? Score!
RED’s terrain is vast, it can be overwhelming to ‘see it all’ in just one day, our Snow Hosts can help with that! RED’s Snow Hosts offer free mountain tours at 9:00am and 12:30pm meeting out front of the base lodge. Our enthusiastic crew is eager to tell you all about the mountain and show you the best spots for your riding style.
After a big day on the mountain, head on up to Rafters for Après Ski Saturday, this week with live music from The Acoustic Co. Enjoy a tasty mountain of nachos, crispy wings, and all the après vibes, the perfect way to unwind after a fun-filled day.
Sunday:
Coffee and Cabins
Start your morning with a café crawl, indulging in specialty coffee and baked goods at Rossland’s charming local cafés. First stop: Peak Provisions, just steps away from your accommodation. Then wander into town, via car, foot, or mountain express, to explore the rest.
Spend the rest of your day enjoying Rossland like a local, on the trails. Rossland’s expansive trail network offers endless ways to get outside: hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and fat-biking. Gear rentals are available in town if you’re keen to try something new.
Unique to Rossland are 11 day-use cabins scattered among the trail network in Strawberry Pass. Strap on some snowshoes or clip into your backcountry skis and explore the Rossland Range Recreation Site. Whether you’re looking for a challenging workout or something more accessible, there’s a trail for everyone, even your furry friends can come along! Pack your bag with a deck of cards and some fresh pastries from Hooper’s to really get cozy at the cabin. Don’t forget to pack out all your garbage and leave the cabin better than you found it! This special place is maintained by volunteers in our community and depends on respect from all who visit.
Still defrosting after yesterday? Don’t fret! The Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre welcomes you to explore the town’s history. Discover how Rossland grew from a single cabin to the vibrant community it is today. Then stroll along Columbia Ave. to browse local shops, galleries, and more.
After an afternoon of exploration, sadly, it’s time to pack up and head home. Before you leave, don’t forget to stop by Piste Off Supply Co. to grab a souvenir and remember your weekend adventure in Rossland.
